The party receives an interpretation from Jesco, a reacher, about their past and motives. They are then escorted out by armed figures and offered safe passage by the Railman's associates. They board their ship and set off to track down the stealthy squid.

After winning, aid is administered to the wounded. They enter a tent where an old man interprets their victory. They notice the surroundings and engage in conversation. The old man provides insights about their past and motives. Carlos has hallucinations while others observe. The session is interrupted and they are escorted out. The Railman expresses concern for the old man. They are asked about safe passage and agree to leave immediately. They board a mine cart and the Railman sends them off. They arrive at their destination in the rain. Some of them vomit. They examine a briefcase and set a course to track a squid. They board their ship and set off, confronting a crew member about stolen food.
