Ego is prepared to shoot the Dragonborn, Izar hides behind a barrel trying to message Ego. A new voice instructs unloading cargo. Idunn is interrupted mid-sentence by a rifle blow. Dorinda advises flying low or high due to unknown events. Gryphons are affected by the heat. Dorinda and Hrothulf scan and find Idunn and Rage tied to the mast. Another ship vanishes. Ego confronts Barlow, turns into slaad. Barlow is a gray slaad with a prosthetic limb. Izar's sleep spell fails. Barlow questions Cercata about their presence. Trident maglady scans the ship. Hrothulf wants to attack. Dorinda and Serafina go invisible. Hrothulf, on Poyraz, attacks Barlow. Ego tries to free herself, notices Elys in a daze. Barlow is injured, Elys is unresponsive. When Barlow is shot, Ego cries, "Nooo!", needing to know more about who she is. The scene ends with Ego at Barlow's side and Izar in a protective stance over Elys.
