Set in
In the subterranean Dao Empire, we thwarted an insurance fraud plot by Agnus, who had boys attempt a robbery to claim insurance and donations. Agnus showed us a valuable hand-and-a-half sword with a wavy blade, jeweled guard, and a heart-shaped gem said to be the heart of Firehammer, the blade's forger. She revealed the sword's historical and mystical significance, tied to the god Gliton and capable of self-sharpening and remaining sharp.
Agnus explained the sword was part of her plan to buy the abbey from imperial hands. We discussed its history and Agnus' possession of it, but she refused to sell it as it was the abbey's nest egg. Izar noticed Magman script on the sword, suggesting it has powers tied to Firehammer's life and rebirth.
Izar offered to steal the sword for insurance money, but Agnus declined. We discussed the phoenixes and their ties to Gliton, and Agnus mentioned the blade was forged by the Firehammer, who lived in the west. Ego identified the hilt as made of polvimithe and noticed its lightweight nature.
The group planned to return the next day, staying at their Fire BnB, a cave of igneous rock. They intended to discuss their mission with Vashnu and gather information on Whidmore. In the morning, they returned to the abbey, where Ego identified the sword near the statue, experiencing a vision that revealed its true potential and the connection between self-sacrifice and the sword's power.
Dorinda examined the abbey, noticing the altar beneath the bar, used for burnt offerings in the past but inactive for decades. She searched for hidden doors, intrigued by the carved stone environment. Ego's vision suggested the sword's ultimate power lay in self-sacrifice for others. We discussed acquiring the sword or making a donation to aid the abbey, considering restoring worship to awaken the god Gliton.
