Peppermint, a Brownie, offers to remake spoiled brownies in the smoothie room while revealing their role as the housekeeper and host of the Halls of Victory. The room is filled with fresh produce and automated blenders. Peppermint explains their struggle due to the ceasefire caused by Whidmore's acquisition of automatons. The characters, Dorinda, Darnit, and Ego, each ask Peppermint various questions about phoenixes, the war, Whidmore's army, resources, military prowess, exotic goods, compensation, technology, magic, graft tech, religious beliefs of the brownies, and the existence of a temple matching their description. Ego is torn between indulging in the goods and staying focused on their mission.
