Dorinda is confronted by a drow scout and his group in an underground chamber. She asserts that they were led there by a lady and requests a parley. After some negotiation, they agree to a peaceful exchange. The drow reveal they are lost and infected by a deadly black fungus. The group discusses the origins of the fungus and possible cures. They offer assistance to the drow and draw a map for them. The drow share information about House Ligeia and their encounters with the fungus. They discuss the possibility of using the fungus as a weapon. The group learns about circular rooms and the atrocities committed by House Ligeia. They also discover the drow's failed attempts to treat the infected. Hiare, a dragon, is given a treat that causes her to belch fire. The drow are confused by the group's presence and mission. The group explains their quest to find a gryphon and free all the gods. The drow are skeptical but intrigued. Hiare's fire belching creates a spectacle. The drow mention their fallen house members and one gives Izar his signet ring. A skittish drow asks Hrothulf about the treats and offers a paralytic poison in exchange for information.
