The group explores underground, encountering various obstacles and creatures. They come across a vast open space with spikes on the walls and two pools. One pool contains suspicious fish-like creatures, while the other releases a yellow chalky mist. A creature takes the clew, and we are drawn into the water after it.
Set in
We go underground. It gets darker and wetter as we proceed. We encounter a 3-way divergence. The Drow presence is increasing, causing discontent. Going North leads to encounters with Drow scouts. Going West leads to the Black Lake, known for healing properties. Going South leads to a dry wasteland.
Dorinda uses her sonar mapping device. Izar suggests staying near the Penumbra by going North or South. Darnit advises avoiding the Drow. Izar is hesitant due to their military nature. We flip a coin and go South.
We encounter misting geysers and discover insect life in the rocks. We reach a decision point with a spiral staircase going deep and a path veering up. We choose the spiral path.
As we approach the spiral, we notice terracing. Hrothulf observes translucent salamanders near the geysers. Dorinda searches for tracks. Darnit studies the walls and notices a couple of right angles, possibly indicating human construction.
We reach a vast open space with spikes on the walls and two pools. Dorinda and Darnit search for traps but find none. Izar recognizes a rock formation called the Tree of Death. Hrothulf sees bats and is attacked by one. Ego prepares her railgun while Izar suggests extinguishing all lights. The bats don't approach us.
We see exits to the North and back to the spiral. Dorinda attempts to salvage her lantern. Ego examines a pool with fish-like creatures but finds it suspicious. Izar throws chalk dust into another pool, attracting teeth-like creatures. One takes the clew!
Hrothulf dives into the pool, discovering a rock flap. Dorinda ties a rope to her lantern and drops it into a hole, revealing a larger space below. Izar communicates with Hrothulf using a forcefield. Ego's flashlight is taken by a Camo-Bat. Hrothulf encounters tentacled creatures in the water.
Darnit prepares to freeze the creatures. The second pool releases a yellow chalky mist. Dorinda dives into the water and swims towards the source.
