Nora, adopted from an orphanage at 9, died at 23. The idea of reconstructing her using ReDream is discussed. Meagel University is visited to find an anthropologist/artist to reconstruct Nora's body. They meet Daryo, who can delegate tasks to others. They find a portrait artist named Nellie Bly, who sees the body as a series of lines. They obtain a photo-realistic painting of Nora. Bode Auger and Nora never overlapped, but they might be related. Nellie's picture of Nora is compared to Bode for family resemblance. They travel to Didymus Prime, where Daedalus headquarters is located. Daryo knows about Daedalus' operation. They arrive and plan their approach. They receive a warning call from Charles Whidmore, who warns them about Daryo's criminal background. They discuss the ansible key and how to avoid being tracked. Ego uses a signal jammer to block the ansible systems temporarily. Concerns about Daryo's trustworthiness and Whidmore's intentions are discussed. They experiment with the candy Daryo brought and find it to be cheap and low-quality. Mr. Worlds arrives on the bridge, frantic about the signal disruption.
